Introduction
If you want audio to play automatically for your learners, in this article we’re going to show you how to do that by adding tutor audio to your pages.
NOTE: This was previously called 'Page audio' in Nimble V1.
Top tips before you begin
- Tutor audio automatically plays an audio clip when learners enter the page.
- If you want your audio to start playing only when your learners click a button, try using the audio block interaction instead.
- If you’re using audio, don’t forget you’ll want to be sure your learners have access to headphones or speakers. It’s a great idea to add a note at the beginning of your course that audio is required so that your learners can find headphones before they begin.
- You should always add a transcript to your audio. This is important because it ensures that learners without headphones or speakers, or people with hearing disabilities, can still understand your content.
- If you’re narrating the text on your page, make sure that you’ve finalised that text before recording your audio – otherwise you’ll need to update it if the text changes!
- Nimble Author supports audio in the .mp3 format. It you have audio in a different file format, you'll need to convert it to an mp3 file - here are a few free to use online tools to help you do that:

How your learners interact with it
If you build a course that contains tutor audio, when learners access the course, they will initially see a popup message alerting them that it contains audio that plays automatically.
When a learner enters a page that contains tutor audio, they will hear it play as soon as they enter that page. They will also see a playbar at the bottom of the page,
where they can pause the audio, and can also use the progress bar to skip forward or back through the file. To open or close the transcript, they click the transcript () button.
