We’ve all been there—trying to log in and realising our password has completely slipped our mind! This article covers the standard self-service process you can guide your learners through to help them reset their own password and get back to learning on your Nimble LMS 2 as quickly as possible.
Top tips before you begin
- Check for account lockouts: If a user has entered their password incorrectly five times, their account will be automatically locked for security reasons. In this scenario, the standard reset process will not work. Please see our article How to help a user unlock their account to resolve this first.
- Time limits apply: For security purposes, the password recovery link sent to the user is only valid for 48 hours. If the user does not select the link within this timeframe, it will expire, and they will need to request a new one.
How to help a user reset their password
To help a user self-serve and reset their password, please instruct them to follow these steps:
- Browse to the login page of your Nimble LMS 2.
- Select the I forgot my password link located below the login fields.
- Enter their email address into the provided field. Note: They must enter the exact email address associated with their learner account. If they enter an email address that isn't registered, they will not receive an email.
- Select the Send recovery link button. The user will then receive an email containing a secure link to create a new password.
