In this article, we’ll teach you how to add a new folder in Nimble LMS. Folders help you to keep your courses nicely organised and make enroling your learners really easy – instead of enroling them onto individual courses, one-by-one, you can simply enrol them onto a folder.
Adding a new folder
To add a new folder:
- From the Nimble LMS home screen, select the Courses button.
- Select
.
- Complete the required fields.:
- Name – A name for your folder. For example, if you’re creating a folder full of courses for your new starters to take, you might call it Company Induction.
- Weight – By default, your folders are sorted in alphabetical order but if you want to change that, you can assign your folders a weight. Instead of using this, we’d recommend that you just drag and drop the folder to the right place once you’ve saved it.
- Visibility – By default, your folders are visible to learners, but if you want to set them as hidden, you can. Click here for an explanation of how visibility works.
- Select the
button. Smashing – you’ve added a new folder.
Weight
By default, your folders are sorted in alphabetical order but if you want to change that, you can assign your folders a weight. The smaller (lighter) the number, the closer to the top of the list your folder will “float”. If you want to do this, it’s much easier to simply drag and drop your folders into the right place just like in the below example.
Visibility
If your folder is set as visible, your learners will see it when they log into the LMS and they’ll need to select it to see the contents. In the below example, the Company Induction folder is visible. Learners select it to see the courses inside. This is super helpful if you’re enroling your learners onto lots of courses and want to make it easier to browse through them.
If your folder is set as hidden, your learners see the courses that they’re enroled on but not the folders that they’re in. This is smashing if you’re only enroling your learners onto a few courses at any given time.
